AIM: To prepare and submit of Glycero Geletin Suppository

PRINCIPLE: Glycero-gelatin base is a mixture of glycerine and water which is made thick stiff jelly by addition gelatin. The base does not melt at body temperature but dissolve in the secretions of the cavity in which they are inserted.
PROCEDURE:
- Clean the mould with hot water containing detergent, followed with cold water.
- Lubricate the mould with liquid parafin and keep it in an inverted position in ice bath.
- weigh the calculated quantity of gelatin in a china dish and soak it in 2.5 ml of water, to soften thoroughly.
- Heat the glycerin to about100°C and add the glycerin to the soaked gelatin, mix well.
- Stir the melted base, until it is completely liquefied.
- Heat the mixture in a water bath until to get a clear solution.
- Transfer the mixture to the cavity of the mould when the solution is hot and allow it to set on an Ice bath.
- After cooling, trim the excess of mass with sharp blade.
- Remove the suppositories from the mould, wipe with cloth, and submit with label.
CATEGORY: Laxative.
DOSE: Insert one at night.
STORAGE: Store in a cool place.
