- Glass rod
- Measuring cylinder
- Pestle and mortar
Formula:
| Ingredients | Official Formula | Working Formula |
|---|---|---|
| Liquid Paraffin | 500ml | 15ml |
| Indian gum in powder | 125gm | 3.75gm |
| Tragacanth gum in powder | 5gm | 0.15gm |

Chloroform and sodium benzoate acts as preservative. Glycerin makes the preparation viscous and adds on taste. Vanillin is a flavoring agent. Primary emulsion formula is 3:2:1 (oil: water: gum)
Procedure:
- Triturate liquid paraffin and chloroform with Indian gum, tragacanth gum and vanillin
- Add 8ml of water and triturate till a stable white primary emulsion is formed
- Add sodium benzoate and glycerin dissolved in water with trituration
- Transfer to wide mouthed bottle, make up the volume with water
