PRINCIPLE: Chlorhexidine is used in the treatment and prevention of oral infections. In this preparation chlorhexidine gluconate is used as antiseptic. Ethanol is used as solubilizing agent, glycerin acts as humectant and increase viscocity of the product. It also enhances sweetness of the product. Citric acid and sodium citrate is used to regulate the pH of the preparation. Sodium benzoate is used as preservative. Brilliant blue and tartazine yellow is as coloring agent and mint flavour used as flavoring agent.
PROCEDURE:
- Dissolve the required quantity of chlorhexidine, citric acid and sodium citrate in little quantity of water with continuous stirring.
- Add required quantity of this solution and mix well.
- Add measured quantity of glycerin, sodium meta bisulfite, sodium benzoate, coloring and flavoring agent gradually with continuous stirring.
- Transfer the solution to the measuring cylinder and make up the volume to required quantity with water.
CATEGORY: Cleans and equal quantity of water before use.
DIRECTION: Dilute with equal quantity of water before use.
