PRINCIPLE: Administration of fluid and electrolytes by oral to prevent dehydration due to diarrhea is known as oral rehydration therapy. ORS is a dry mixture of sodium chloride potassium chloride, glucose anhydrous and trisodium citrate dihydrate. It is recommended and distributed by UNICEF and WHO.Glucose facilitates the absorption of sodium in the small intestine. Sodium chloride and potassium chloride are needed to replace use sodium and potassium ions during diarrhea. Tri sodium citrate corrects the acidosis that occurs because of diarrhoea and dehydration.
PROCEDURE:
- Accurately weigh each ingredients separately.
- Incorporate the powders in descending order of their weigh. Triturate them in mortar.
- Mix all them titurated ingredients and transfer the powder into a packet or sachet and lable and submited.
