Calamine is a mixture of zinc oxide with small amount of ferric oxide it serves as a antiseptic, astringent ( mild protein precipitants, which cleanse the skin, reduces oil secretion and contracts the pores) and skin protectant. Bentonite is a suspending agent. Sodium citrate is a deflocculating agent which prevents  suspension from being too viscous and also prevents excessive frothing on shaking.
